Bryan L., Dan A., Joel M., Carole S. and Jan L. all volunteered some time working the streets selling lots and lots of knick knacks and clothing at yesterday's yard sale. The yard sale was a great fund raising event for the amount of time it took to pull it off. Thank you for all who donated items and to those who stopped by and dropped some coin. Thanks!

WH2O Yard Sale Fundraiser This Saturday!
WH2O is hosting one of our great Yard Sale Fundraisers on Sat. Sept. 13, 2008.
Time to gather your junk...which could be someone else's treasure...in order to raise some money for the team. Daniel Banchik has come forward and volunteered his front yard right off of San Vicente in West Hollywood to be WH2O Flea Market HQ. Thanks Dan!
Over the next 2 weeks please gather anything you would like to donate and bring it to practice. We will have volunteers and board members who will take your items. If you have large items, shoot me an email at president at wh2o.org and I will arrange a time to stop by your house to lug your treasures away or a time when you can drop it off at Daniel's house.
You can donate anything, but I will reference Ash Martin's well crafted list from last year!
* Art & old frames - no not your clay ashtrays from grade school
* CDs, DVDs, box sets
* Electronics
* Computer components - no CRT monitors and nothing from before 2004 please (ink jet printers don't sell much either)
* Clothing - no used underwear this time please
* Musical instruments or components - You know you don't play the oboe anymore
* Jewelry, watches
* Adult items - I'm not kidding, these items sell (DVDs, toys, etc.)
* Schwag - It surprises me every time, but people really like to buy crap with logos that look like free giveaways
* Kitchen items
* Workout items & sporting goods
* Furniture
* Home Decor
* Toys & Games

Thanks for a great past 2 years everyone. It has been a lot of fun being the president of this amazing aquatics club. Maybe I will go hunt moose in Alaska next year. Remember the Garage Sale...I know you have some treasurers to donate.

WH2O Archives
As I'm getting ready for the West Hollywood Aquatics Yard Sale this weekend I found a box of old USMS Swimmer magazine. In one of these issues back from July 2005 our own swimmer Errol Graham writes about his favorite set. According to the article the following set was designed by one time WH2O coach Marilyn Chua. Here it is:

WH2O on CBS News
CBS Evening News correspondent Sandra Hughes stopped by the West Hollywood Pool an interviewed a few of our swimmers on deck about "The Phelps And Torres Effect". After stunning swims over and record ratings for swimming CBS News asks if this new found love of swimming will last.
You can read the transcript of the piece that aired on CBSNews.com LINK. Here are two snippets from two of our swimmers:
"I have had a number of friends who've asked me about it in the last week," said swimmer Brian Olver.
"I've been really focusing on my technique and some of the things I've seen from the top swimmers," said Amy Dantzler, who practices at West Hollywood Aquatics.
